HLTAID011 Provide first aid - June

Course Details

HLTAID011 Provide first aid (replaces HLTAID003) will give you the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This course includes HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

It applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

All training provided is in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

- Poisoning and toxic substances  
- Respiratory distress, including asthma  
- Seizures/Convulsions  
- Shock management  
- Stroke  
- Unconsciousness

Entry requirements

There are no pre-requisites however participants will require a minimum level of Literacy and Numeracy to be allowed admittance to this course. 

Please notify us if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you completing all practical assessments. This includes the physical ability to kneel on the floor while performing two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a mannequin on the floor.

Pre-reading and online assessment

This course requires Online Pre-Reading and Pre-Assessment to be completed before the class date.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

In order to receive a certificate for any accredited course, students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Assessment

Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and a written test.

Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of uninterrupted CPR must be performed, while kneeling on the floor, for at least 2 minutes on an adult manikin placed on the floor. 
This course runs over two days , During school hours. No pre-reading required.

Certification

On successful completion, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

 - HLTAID009 Provide Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
 - HLTAID011 Provide first aid 

Re-certification

The Australian Resuscitation Council advises that you should update this course every 3 years, with the CPR component (HLTAID009) to be updated annually, to maintain currency.
